What may I purchase online?

You may purchase Car and Driver Tickets with additional in vehicle passengers online at this time. All Walk On tickets as well as any other tickets are to be purchased at each terminal prior to departure.

What happens after a purchase online or from the call center?

You will receive an email with your ticket attached after you make payment. Print the ticket ahead of time as it has a barcode. Our staff will ask to scan the barcode to verify the ticket and then you and your will be placed in line to board the next vessel. Arrive at the ferry no later than 30 minutes prior to departure to have your ticket scanned and be placed in line. Arrivals with less than 15 minutes until departure will result in forfeiture of your position on the current vessel and your departure will be on a later vessel.

What if I need to change my online order?

Please call the call center at 888-443-3779 and our staff will assist you with the change.

Where do I buy Walk On tickets?

You may buy Walk On tickets (and any other type of ticket) inside at each terminal at anytime prior to departure.

Do I need a ticket to get on the boat?

Yes. You will need a ticket in hand before you may board the vessel. This is a change that allows a larger number of our staff to serve you.

How far in advance should I arrive at the dock?

One should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure to buy you tickets at the terminal. All passengers must have a ticket prior to boarding the vessel. It is REQUIRED that vehicles will be in line and ready to load 15 MINUTES BEFORE SCHEDULED SAILING OR THE RESERVATION WILL BE FORFEITED and the vehicle will be considered STANDBY.

Are reservations mandatory?

Reservations are not required, but recommended. If you travel without reservations you will be considered a standby.

I did not receive my confirmation email with my tickets.

If you did not receive your confirmation email, please notify us and we will send you one.

Do I need to make a reservation for walk-ons or motorcycles?

Reservations are not required for Walk-On passengers. Motorcycles do not require reservations. You may buy your tickets inside the terminal building.

What is my CVV number?

It is the last 3 numbers on the reverse side of your credit card.

What is standby?

You are considered a standby when you do not have a reservation, or if you arrive later than 15 minutes before your scheduled departure if you do have a reservation.

Can I take a different ferry than the one I reserved for?

Yes, however, you will be considered standby and the monies you paid for the initial reservation will be honored on the ferry same day only.

How do I get a Monthly Walk On pass or gift certificates?

You may purchase Monthly Walk On and Gift Certificates passes at the Port Jefferson Office in person. Credit card or cash accepted. No checks.

Is there parking in Bridgeport?

Daily Parking Only: There is free parking in the lot by The Bluefish Stadium (Harbor Yard). Huge signs say: FREE PARKING. There is a free shuttle that starts an hour before the first departure.

Also note: Car/driver can drive right up to the dock, drop off walk-on passengers, and then park in the free lot. The driver can take the shuttle to the ferry. Please allow ample time for your ferry departure and to buy your tickets prior to boarding. This parking lot is for the DAY ONLY. Cars left overnight will be towed.

Overnight Parking in Bridgeport: Imperial Parking Garage 203-366-0468. Call them for their rates.

Is there parking in Port Jefferson?

The Ferry company does not have parking. The Port Jefferson Marina parking lot is adjacent to the Ferry and is operated by Town Of Brookhaven. Depending upon the season, the Town of Brookhaven charges for daily parking. Please call Brookhaven for details 631-451-6100.

What is your pet policy?

Pets are allowed on the ferry at no extra charge. Leashed or in a pet carrier. Pets must be kept outside the main cabin. Pets are limited to the back or upper decks.

Can bicycles go on the ferry?

Yes, at no extra charge.

Do the ferries have elevators?

Yes. All of them have elevators. Please call the morning of travel to confirm the elevators are operating.

How do I change my reservation?

You must call to transfer/change/manipulate/cancel your reservation.

What is your freight policy?

Freight may only be shipped once a day on the 12 PM ferry. The ferry company does not ship anything over 100 lbs. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure to fill out the required paper work. Proper picture I.D. is required.

How far is the train station from Port Jefferson or Bridgeport?

The train station in Port Jefferson is approximately 1 mile from the ferry. The train station in Bridgeport is less than ¼ mile from the ferry.

Do you have a discount for seniors?

We do have a discount for our senior walk on passengers.

Ticket Books $560-

Our Ticket Book offering contains 11 One Way Vouchers for Auto & Driver for the price of 10. These vouchers carry a two year expiration date from the date of purchase. You may purchase a Ticket Book in both the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Offices.

What is the smoking policy?

Smoking is limited to the back and upper decks of the ferries outside.

How long is the trip between Port Jefferson and Bridgeport?

1 hour and 15 minutes

What if I need help carrying my luggage?

Each passenger is responsible for carrying his or her luggage.

Can I leave my baggage unattended?

No. One must stay with their baggage at all times.

How can the weather affect my travel?

It is up to the discretion of the Captain if we sail.

What are the names of the vessels?

P.T. Barnum, Park City and the Grand Republic.

Where does the ferry go?

The ferry travels between Port Jefferson, N.Y. and Bridgeport, CT. via the Long Island Sound.

When does the shuttle run in Bridgeport?

The shuttle runs all day in Bridgeport starting an hour before the first departure and approximately every 15 minutes.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation notices must be given to our office a minimum of three (3) hours prior to departure and DURING REGULAR OFFICE HOURS for full reservation deposit refund or a $20.00 service charge per vehicle per trip will be applied. All inquiries regarding deposits must be made to the company no later 14 days following scheduled reservation.

What are your office hours?

The phones are in operation from 6 AM – 10 PM. Every day except Christmas / December 25th the office is closed.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Reservations can be made up to 2 hours in advance of the departure (depending on availability).

Are there food and beverages on the vessels?

Yes. Each vessel offers concessions with a wide variety of choices. There is a lounge area also for our 21 year old and over travelers.

TIME LIMIT AND FORUM OF SUITS. No civil action against the Company, its personnel or its vessels may be brought more than one year after the occurrence if based on personal injury or death, or six months after passage if based on other claims (including property loss/damage), and any such suits must be brought in either the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York (Central Islip) or state court in Suffolk County, NY. The aggregate liability for property loss/damage is limited to $1,000 per occurrence.
